Radio Frequency Testing

1、 The necessity of certification 
  
SRRC certification is a mandatory radio model approval system in China. All routers sold domestically must be certified and labeled with CMIIT ID, otherwise they face the risk of being banned and fined. 
  

2、 Core requirements for certification 
  
Applicable product scope 
Wi Fi router supporting 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz frequency bands 
Wi Fi 6/7 devices need to additionally meet new regulations 
technical standard 
RF parameters: transmission power (e.g. 2.4GHz ≤ 20dBm), frequency tolerance, stray radiation 
New requirement from 2025: Wi Fi 7 routers must submit a 6GHz frequency band anti-interference report 
  
 

3、 Certification process 
  
Step 1: Confirm the certification scope and specify the wireless frequency bands supported by the product (multiple frequency bands need to be tested separately) 
Step 2: Prepare a list of necessary materials for technical documents: 
Copy of Enterprise Business License (stamped with official seal) 
Product circuit diagram, PCB layout diagram, RF component list 
Chinese instruction manual (indicating the location of CMIIT ID annotation) 
Color photos of the entire machine and internal structure 
Step 3: Sample submission for testing. Sample requirements: 
Provide 3-5 mass-produced representative prototypes (including power supply and antenna) 
Wi Fi 7 devices need to support 6GHz frequency band testing items: 
RF performance (transmission power/frequency tolerance/stray radiation) 
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) 
6GHz anti-interference test (Wi Fi 7 exclusive) 
Step 4: Audit and Evidence Collection 
Submit the laboratory report to the Radio Management Bureau 
Approved and issued CMIIT ID certificate (valid for 5 years) 
Urgent service: Completed within 4 weeks (cost increases by 30% -50%) 
  

4、 Cost and optimization strategy 
  
Basic cost per frequency band: 25000 to 40000 yuan Dual band (2.4G+5G): 40000 to 60000 yuan Triple band (including 6G): 60000 to 80000 yuan 
Cost optimization plan 
Reuse certified Wi Fi modules (reduce costs by 20%) 
Pre testing during the R&D phase (to avoid later rectification) 
  

5、 Common problem handling 
  
Test failure rectification 
Excessive radiation: Optimize PCB layout, add shielding cover 
Frequency violation: Adjust transmission power or lock compliant frequency band

Hardware/firmware upgrade requires re certification
