1. Introduction to Certification
Brazil ANATEL certification is a certification for telecommunications products. All telecommunications products and accessories need to obtain ANATEL certification before they can be legally commercialized and used in Brazil.
ANATEL certification is divided into mandatory and voluntary certification. Its approval procedure is the same for domestic and foreign products in Brazil. If the product is subject to compulsory certification, the test results and reports of the product need to be consistent with the rules and regulations adopted by ANATEL. Before the product is put into use, it needs to obtain the authorization certificate issued by ANATEL.

Three categories of telecommunications equipment require mandatory certification:
Type I
1. Terminal equipment connected to the Fixed Switched Telephone Service (FSTS) network through endpoints;
2. Equipment for connecting the private telecommunications network to the FSTS network;
3. Equipment connected to the FSTS network for the purpose of providing value-added services.
Including: mobile phone, satellite phone, VOIP phone, mobile phone battery, mobile phone charging cable, telephone signal line, modem.
Type II
1. Any equipment using radio not covered by Type I, such as low voltage installations, unlicensed equipment and antennas.
Contains: TV and radio antennas, receivers, transmitters, wireless networking equipment, RF automation equipment.
Type III
1. Any equipment not covered by Type I or II which is regulated by the rules and regulations of ANATEL.
Includes: fiber optic cable, cable connector, mobile network signal transmitter.

5. Certification process
1. Customers submit samples and materials to our agency;
2. Laboratory sample test, after the test is completed, a test report will be issued;
3. Qualification certification agency reviews the test report and issues the ANATEL certification.
6. Validity period of the certificate
Certificate validity: 2 years for category I, 2 years for category II, 3 years for category III.
7. Matters needing attention
1. All products in the list published by ANATEL require certification;
2. The certificate/authorization holder (importer. manufacturer) needs to be legally confirmed by Brazil;
3. The instruction manual, installation guide and warning signs need to be in Portuguese. Other documents can be in English;
4. The product needs to have an identification plate, which should contain the following information: ANATEL logo certification number (barcode); manufacturer name; year of manufacture; model number; serial number; distributor registration number.
8. Specifications for the use of logos
Certified products need to embody the ANATEL logo. If there is no condition to embody it on the product, the logo and code should be embossed in the manual. The minimum height of the ANATEL logo needs to be greater than 4 mm, and the height of the full name of ANATEL needs to be greater than 1 mm. There are many styles of ANATEL logo, and the picture below is one of the prescribed styles.
The identification code format of the product is "HHHHH-AA-FFFFF", where HHHHH uses 5 letters or numbers as the product certification code, AA uses 2 numbers to indicate the certification issuance year, and FFFFF uses 5 numbers to mark the product manufacturer.
