1. Introduction to Certification
The Qi standard is a wireless charging standard launched by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the global standardization organization that promotes wireless charging technology. It adopts the current mainstream electromagnetic induction technology and has two characteristics: compatibility and versatility. As long as it is a product with the Qi logo, it can be charged with a Qi wireless charger. Certified and listed products not only meet the corresponding safety and performance specifications, but also are compatible with certified terminals of different brands and models.
2. Certification mark
3. Product range
1. According to the use and form of the product, it is divided into: mobile power products, embedded products, and charging products.
2. Among them, there are different emission types, which are divided into single-emission products and multi-emission products. Among them, single-transmission products can only charge one charging device at the same time, and multi-transmission products can charge multiple charging devices at the same time.
4. Test items
1. Compliance testing
Conformity testing laboratory, currently there are many options in China, at least one of the at least 5 prototypes sent for testing will be arranged for compliance testing first, and the compliance testing samples will be kept in ATL after passing the test. The main test contents include:
(1) The timing of the communication protocol between the transmitter and receiver;
(2) Test the power output capability through the translation of the XYZ axis;
(3) The maximum supply capacity of energy transmission;
(4) Foreign object detection
2. Compatibility test
There are only two IOC compatibility testing laboratories in the world, one in Belgium in Europe and one in South Korea in Asia.
After passing the compliance test, ATL will send the test sample to the laboratory in Belgium or South Korea for compatibility testing. After the compatibility test is completed in the IOC laboratory, the submitting party can perform the action of "confirmation completion" on the official website, and the product will be included in the WPC official website. Enter the official website to enter the product ID number to query, and the tested product will be retained. On the Test Bed.
According to WPC requirements, all test samples need to be tested for compatibility with all previously certified samples. For example, the tested product is a wireless charging transmitter, then it needs to be tested with all WPC Qi-certified receivers (including mobile phones) Compatibility testing. According to the Qi testing process, the products submitted for testing will be sent for compatibility testing after passing the compliance testing. If the compatibility testing fails, the samples need to be brought back for rectification. After the rectification is completed, it cannot be directly sent for compatibility testing, but needs to be tested again for compliance testing and compatibility testing.
5. Certification process
1. Provide product information consultation and quotation;
2. After signing the contract, the customer provides the required information and documents as required;
3. WPC membership application;
4. Submit information such as product specifications and parameters for review;
5. Provide test samples for compliance testing in local laboratories;
6. Submit samples for compatibility testing;
7. Final confirmation of product information;
8. Once the product is registered on the WPC website, it is completed.
Note: Qi certification is different for different types of products. Products with functions above 5W use the Qi protocol and need to pass EPP certification; products above 5W use private protocols and only need to pass BPP certification.
6. Certification cycle and validity period
Calculated according to the normal test time, if the product to be tested has no failure items and passes all the test items at one time, the time required is 4-5 weeks, plus some turnaround time, etc., so the general certification cycle is 1.5-2 about a month.
7. Factory inspection
No factory inspection required
8. Matters needing attention
1. Qi certification is only for WPC members, which means that manufacturers first need to become members;
2. Qi certification needs to be completed in a laboratory authorized by WPC to be valid;
3. Qi certification is a voluntary certification, not a requirement of local market regulations. After passing Qi certification, the product also needs to meet the corresponding regulatory requirements, such as CE, ROHS, REACH, FCC, etc.;
4. Manufacturers currently use the Qi standard to produce products, and the patent technology fee is temporarily exempted. It will be notified whether it will be free in the future.
9. Specifications for the use of logos
The logo can be combined with the product identification number ("Qi-ID") in the product registration database and the word "Certified", with the alignment, size and font specified in the "Trademark Guidelines".
