UAE TRA Certification

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) governs radio and telecommunications. Per TRA regulations, all wireless devices sold in the UAE market must obtain type approval.

The certification applicant must be either a local company or an international company. However, the applicant must first obtain a license issued by the TRA before applying for the device's type approval. This license is valid for 5 years.

Scope of Applicable Products

The current scope of mandatory product certification primarily covers IT and home appliance products. Other categories are gradually being included, such as: mobile phones, tablets, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, projectors, wireless chargers, massage devices, etc.

Regulatory Update

On June 17, 2020, the UAE regulatory authority Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued a notice regarding new labeling requirements for TRA-certified products: the TRA Declaration of Conformity Card (Type Approval System Conformity Mark).

This change affects all equipment imported into the UAE. Equipment already on the market requires no modification.
