On June 25, 2024, AliExpress issued an announcement regarding enhanced regulatory oversight of ANATEL certifications for select product categories in Brazil. Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) mandates compulsory certification for certain telecommunications products sold in the Brazilian market, including mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, drones, remote controls, and routers. Products featuring wireless connectivity capabilities (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, Zigbee), products operating within 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G spectrums, and wireless products with radio frequency (RF) capabilities are subject to mandatory certification restrictions.
Sellers are requested to promptly familiarize themselves with the relevant certification requirements. If listed products have already obtained the required certifications, please supplement and complete the product qualification information and verify the authenticity of the relevant certifications. This policy is scheduled to take effect on July 2, 2024.
Additionally, products with wireless connectivity features (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, Zigbee), products operating within the 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G spectrums, and wireless products with radio frequency (RF) capabilities are subject to mandatory certification requirements. The platform plans to implement enhanced controls starting August 31, 2024. Products that have not obtained ANATEL certification by that date will be prohibited from sale on AliExpress.

Not only AliExpress, but other major e-commerce platforms such as Mercado Libre, Shopee, and Amazon also impose strict certification requirements on products entering the Brazilian market. These platforms similarly mandate that certain electronics exported to Brazil must hold valid INMETRO and ANATEL certification certificates (specific requirements vary by platform). Failure to comply may result in product delisting and sales restrictions.
