In the digital age, routers serve as the critical devices connecting us to the networked world. With the introduction of WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 technologies, router performance has significantly improved. WiFi 6E routers deliver broader bandwidth and lower latency, ensuring stable connectivity. WiFi 7 routers herald a new peak in wireless communication technology, offering higher data transfer speeds and an enhanced user experience.
Router products exported to Japan require TELEC (MIC) certification. Japan enforces stringent certification standards for electronic devices to ensure their safety and reliability.
Wireless TELEC Certification Types
TELEC certification comprises Test Certification and Type Certification. Test Certification validates each individual device unit, applying only to the verified unit. Type Certification validates a sample from a batch of devices sharing identical design and manufacturing specifications, applying to the entire batch. However, any changes to the design or manufacturing process require re-certification.
Japan TELEC Certification Application Process
1. Sign a certification contract with the company and pay the certification fees.
2. Provide one fixed-frequency prototype and one standard prototype, along with the application form and certification documentation.
3. The company commences testing, issues the test report, and submits the application to the RCB (Recognized Certification Body).
4. Upon completion of the review, the certificate is issued. Pay the remaining balance, and the company will mail the certificate, concluding the case.
Documentation Preparation for Japan TELEC Certification
1. Complete schematic diagram;
2. Complete block diagram;
3. User manual;
4. Operating instructions;
5. Bill of Materials (BOM);
6. Module schematic diagram;
7. Module block diagram;
8. Module specification sheet;
9. Factory ISO 9001 certificate;
10. Label and location diagram;
11. Antenna specification sheet: including antenna name, antenna type, antenna;
12. Label: Must indicate dimensions and position diagram on the product, must display the TELEC mark, and must specify the dimensions of the TELEC mark.
The above documentation must be provided in English or Japanese. Test reports in other languages are not accepted. Additionally, when submitting, pay attention to the number of models. A large number of models may require product variation testing or submission of model review fees. The Japanese Radio Law certification requires manufacturers to retain certification documentation for 10 years.
