Introduction to Certification
The Eurasian Economic Union, formerly known as the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, saw Armenia and Kyrgyzstan join the alliance later. It was officially established in 2015. The product certification of the Eurasian Economic Union: Eurasian Conformity, with the English abbreviation EAC, is simply called EAC certification. It is a product certification system formulated and implemented by the Eurasian Economic Union.
Categories of EAC Certification for Electronic and Electrical Products
Electronic and electrical products usually need to meet three standards:
- TR CU 004/2011 on the safety of low-voltage equipment
- TR CU 020/2011 Technical Regulations on Electromagnetic Compatibility
- EAEU TR 037/2016 on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products (RoHS)
Generally, the first two standards are for applying for the EAC Certificate of Conformity (CoC), while the standard EAEU TR 037 is for applying for the EAC Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
Documents Required for EAC Certification Application
1. CB report and certificate (if not available, LVD safety report can be provided instead);
2. EMC report;
3. CIG 023 factory inspection report (if not available, certification from an institution that does not require factory inspection report can be provided instead);
4. Application form;
5. Russian manual.
The basic process for applying for EAC certification
1. Select the certification body;
2. Prepare relevant materials according to the list provided by the certification body;
3. Submit the materials to the certification body;
4. Choose to provide the CIG 023 factory inspection report or video factory audit as required by the certification body;
5. The certification body issues a draft certificate;
6. Determine whether to send a normal sample machine to the certification body according to the requirements of different certification bodies;
7. The certification body issues the original certificate.
Is a local representative required for EAC certification application?
The certificate holder of EAC certification can only be a subject company of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. Subject companies of non-member states of the Eurasian Economic Union cannot be certificate holders. Overseas company subjects can only be listed in the EAC certificate in the form of Manufacturer or Factory.
How long is the validity period of the EAC certificate? Can it be updated during the validity period?
The validity period of the EAC certificate can be chosen freely as a single batch or 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years. However, for our electronic and electrical products, the 5-year validity period certificate is usually applied for by default. Once the original certificate is issued, it cannot be updated. If an update is needed within the validity period, a new certificate must be applied for.
